This brilliant commercial from Verizon shows the dichotomy of how we raise our boys and girls. “Who’s my pretty girl?” “Don’t get your dress dirty,” “You don’t want to mess with that,” and “Be careful with that. Why don’t you hand that to your brother?” are the all-too-real comments made by the parents in this video. Verizon states that 66% of 4th grade say they like science and math, but only 18% of all college engineering majors are female.
You never know who will change the world.
“Our words can have a huge impact. Isn’t it time we told her she’s pretty brilliant, too? Encourage her love of science and technology and inspire her to change the world.”– Reshma Saujani, Founder of Girls Who Code
