Soon, an “NSA-Proof” smartphone will be available for purchase. Blackphone, created by an encrypted communications company called Silent Circle and Spanish start-up company Geeksphone, promises to be the first-ever smartphone to restore “privacy and control in the hands of the its users.”
Here’s an excerpt from their press release:
Blackphone, powered by a security-oriented Android build named PrivatOS, is a carrier- and vendor-independent smartphone giving individuals and organizations the ability to make and receive secure phone calls, exchange secure texts, transfer and store files, and video chat without compromising user privacy on the device.
While the Blackphone is focused on security, they also promise not to under-deliver on the high-tech phone features that we’ve become accustomed to.
